SIMPLE SPONGE CAKE RECIPE


Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 160C/140C fan

2. Line your chosen baking tin/tins

3. Sift the self-raising flour and baking powder into a large bowl

4. Add the remaining ingredients and beat until thoroughly mixed

5. Pour into the tin (or equal amounts into two tins)

Bake for 30-35 mins

6. To check if the cake is baked, insert a skewer, and if it comes out clean, the cake is ready

Leave to cool in the tin(s) for about 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

7. Make sure the cake has cooled completely before decorating

8. Decorate any way you like! For instance, you can add jam, fresh cream and fresh fruit. Then top it off with more fresh cream, fruit and a dusting of icing sugar to WOW your guests!!
